Building on 75 Years of Volunteers: Acquisition Fund

In 2025 the Art Gallery of Hamilton's Volunteer Association will celebrate 75 years of supporting the Gallery.

To celebrate this significant milestone the Volunteers of the AGH are initiating a campaign to raise $10,000 towards the purchase of a new artwork for the permanent collection of the AGH. This donation will empower the purchase of a work of art to be featured within the permanent collection of the AGH into the future as we work towards the future of the AGH in the city of Hamilton.

The work of art purchased will be directed by the Curatorial department of the AGH, and the acquisition committee in keeping with the AGH's collection priorities of regional artists, women artists, racialized and Indigenous artists.

In 2014 in honour of the centennial of the AGH the Volunteer Committee raised funds for the purchase of two works of art it is in this tradition that we embark again on a campaign of support to recognize and celebrate 75 years of volunteership at the AGH. Over the course of the long history of volunteerism at the AGH the association in its various forms has contributed to the purchase or donation of 446 works of art to the AGH's permanent collection.
