Thank you for your ongoing support of the arts even during this time of continued uncertainty. We are so grateful to have patrons like you who continue to visit the museum, support us through membership and donations, and are committed to advancing the programs that our team offers in the community.

This year, the continuing pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us. In particular, kids have missed out on being able to attend school normally, go on field trips, visit their friends, and do fun things. It is in this spirit that we’ve decided to focus our fall appeal on kids programming in schools.

Our fall appeal has a goal to raise $35,000 to support one year of in-school art programming at Westmount Community School. Each year, Remai Modern is able to support three schools with the Art-for-Life program. The proceeds raised in this year’s fall appeal will help us to commit to the continued well-being, aptitude, and creativity of kids.

Art-for-Life is a program that was founded over 20 years ago by our predecessor, the Mendel Art Gallery. Each week, a Remai Modern art educator goes into the classroom and offers hands-on art-making activities that align with the classes being taught – including math, science, reading, social studies, and more. Teachers who host this program have noted that making art at the start of the day strengthened students’ abilities to pay attention, finish tasks, manage their emotions, be confident and have better self-esteem. It costs $350 per year for a child to participate in this program. We hope you’ll consider supporting a child in our community this year.
