The Astor Theatre, founded in 1902, is the oldest performing arts venue in Nova Scotia which added cinema to its offerings in 1917. Tradition and innovation are the hallmarks of the Astor’s identity. We host a number of musical and theatrical workshops and present the acclaimed Liverpool International Theatre Festival every two years as well as being a venue for travelling and local performing arts. Recently we have added small performance spaces when we gained access to The Old Town Hall. The theatre continues to be innovative as well as respecting traditional performance arts.
