The Auxiliary to BC Women's Hospital originated in 1942 as the Grace Hospital Auxiliary. "The Grace" was a maternity hospital in Vancouver administered by the Salvation Army until 1995 when the BC Ministry of Health established the facility as BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre.
BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre provides care for women, infants, and families. This includes maternity and other women's health services for women who live in Vancouver, and high-risk and specialized care for women and infants from throughout the province. The hospital has many unique programs, including the Oak Tree Clinic which provides comprehensive HIV/AIDS services for women and their families, and Fir Square, which provides maternity care and social supports for pregnant women who are dealing with substance use.
The Auxiliary's members are all volunteers who operate a Gift Shop in the hospital and are involved in an off-site thrift shop. All funds are donated to support the many programs and services at BC Women's, and we thank and appreciate donors who assist us in our endeavours.
