To promote an understanding of the Earth and how it shapes our lives through interpretation of the Burgess Shale in its geological setting.
About THE BURGESS SHALE GEOSCIENCE FOUNDATION
The Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation offers a number of educational programs: guided hikes to the Burgess Shale Mt Stephen Fossil Beds and to the Walcott Quarry, both in Yoho National Park, and guided hikes to the Helen Lake Stromatolite outcrop, north of Lake Louise in Banff National Park.
We provide in-the-classroom presentations to grade school students.
We provide education and educational packages to school teachers that they can use in the classroom.
We provide outreach programs, including a booth at the Earth Science for Society exhibition in Calgary.
