#GivingTuesday: Support 2023 Canadian Children's Book Week

This #GivingTuesday, Inspire a Love of Reading in Youth All Across Canada by Supporting Canadian Children's Book Week 2023 and Donating a School Reading

Canadian Children’s Book Week connects Canadian authors, illustrators, and storytellers with children and teens across Canada. Tour participants speak to their audiences about the pleasures of reading and the delights of Canadian children’s books through their presentations and workshops. Meeting creators can be a turning point in a child’s life, inspiring a lifelong love of reading.

The readings and workshops that take place during Book Week 2023 can open a child’s eyes to the world of literature. These readings and interactions with authors, illustrators, and storytellers can excite a child about literacy. Whether a child is interested in writing, drawing, or telling stories aloud, Book Week inspires young imaginations, teaches children how wonderful a good book can be, and encourages them to tell their own stories.

Our goal for #GivingTuesday is to raise $20,000.

Our Adopt-a-School program allows all children to have the chance to meet an author, illustrator, or storyteller during Book Week 2023. It is important to us that the participating creators are paid for their readings, but not all schools can afford the $250 fee for a reading. The Adopt-a-School program helps ensure that schools and libraries in remote areas have the opportunity to participate in this national celebration of literacy.

Give a child the gift of a lifelong love of reading today!

How your gift helps:

Be a super-donor for $250 (or just $21 a month) and cover a creator's fee for a school in need.

For $100, you can help provide transportation and accommodation for creators travelling to hard-to-reach schools.

For $50, you can subsidize part of a creator's speaking fee.

For $25, you can subsidize all or part of a creator's transportation to a school during Book Week.

And for as little as $10, you can contribute to the creation and distribution of Book Week kits that help provide free creator visits to schools with limited access to the internet.
