About Our Charity
HONOURING EXCELLENCE · PRESERVING HISTORY · CONNECTING GENERATIONS
Established in 1994, The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF) is a national charitable organization that fosters future generations of health professionals through the celebration of our country’s rich medical history, student scholarship and award programs, and the delivery of both local and nationwide education programs for youth.
Each year, up to six individuals are recognized for their extraordinary contribution to improving the health of Canadians and people world-wide. The stories of the laureates are showcased on our website (www.cdnmedhall.org) and in our portrait gallery, exhibit hall and laureate theatre, located in downtown London, ON.
CMHF youth initiatives include:
- Discovery Days in Health Sciences – a national program that inspires high school students across Canada to pursue health careers
- CMHF /Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life Scholarship program – for students pursuing post-secondary education in the health sciences
- CMHF Award for Medical Students – recognizing one promising leader and innovator in each of Canada’s 17 medical schools with a cash award and travel subsidy to to attend our induction ceremony where they meet each other and personally connect with inspirational role models - the new inductees and Laureates
- Museum School – offered to London and area senior elementary students who spend an entire week at the Hall, returning each day to learn about Canada’s medical heroes, visit local medical research facilities and write their own story of discovery
