Just like so many other Canadian theatres, City Cinema in Charlottetown closed its doors in March, and we are still unsure when we will be able to re-open. The vast majority of our revenue comes from ticket sales, so as the weeks go by we worry about our short-term future. We will be applying for any available financial support from government, but we hope our members and patrons will be able to help us through this rough patch as well.
You will receive an official tax receipt instantly for any amount you donate to The Charlottetown Film Society, the owner of City Cinema since March 2019. We were so pleased with our first year of operation, with lots of positive activity around your favourite cinema, and we certainly intend to rebuild that momentum as soon as restrictions are eased and we are able to welcome you back to our theatre! Thank you to everyone who can manage to offer a bit of financial support to the Cinema and Film Society!
