Montague - Mount Hamilton Goodwill Games Scholarship Fund

The scholarship has been created in 2018 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Montague - Mount Hamilton Goodwill Games Hockey Exchange. The story of the Goodwill Games' origin, which never grows old, is repeated well before the week of March Break, which is when the event traditionally happens.  Mary Hennebery and her brother Ernie McKenna were the co-founders of the Games. This endowment fund has been established at the Community Foundation of PEI as a tribute to the memory of Mary & Reg Hennebery.

The amount of the scholarship(s) will be determined annually based on the size of the endowment fund and will be disbursed to recipients based on the following criteria:

  • Recipient must have played in the Montague – Mount Hamilton Goodwill Games as a member of the Montague Minor Hockey Association team.
  • Recipient must use the contribution to attend a post-secondary educational institution in the year the scholarship is awarded.
  • Applicants will be asked to write an essay outlining their experience in the Goodwill Games and what it meant to them.

We thank you for your support in helping to establish this fund to celebrate the legacy of the Goodwill Games.  Please fill out this form and email it to info@cfpei.ca or mail it to the Community Foundation of PEI office.  An official charitable tax receipt will be provided for your gift of $25 or more.
