Improving healthcare and education in the remote himalayan valley of Tsum, Nepal.
Tsum is a sacred Himalayan valley in Nepal. It's a place of breathtaking beauty and was sealed off to travellers until 2008. Because of its isolation there has been limited healthcare and education for the people living there. There is no road access; to get there you must hike for days. Approximately 4,000 people live in Tsum's 13 villages and most make their living through subsistence farming. Too many have lost their lives due to treatable illnesses because they didn't have access to the basic necessities we often take for granted, and many children leave for boarding school to obtain education.
The Compassion Project is working to bridge these gaps.
Compassion Health Center offers free basic healthcare to the people of the valley. Your donations help us purchase medicine and clinic supplies and fund the salaries of our health workers.
Compassion Education provides early education for children ages 4-6 from nearby villages. We provide play-based learning and pre-literacy skills. The kids are learning things like sharing, manners, and community building. We also offer every student a daily hot, healthy lunch. We plan to expand school to Class 5 (Grade 5) in an effort to keep children with their families so they can establish strong bonds, their Indigenous language, and a deep understanding of the special land on which they live.
We are a grassroots charity run through the hard work of volunteers. We have almost zero administration costs so all your money is put to work where it's needed most: right in the valley. Please help us provide healthcare and education to this remote community.
Thank you!
