Over the past two years, Crochet Club Members, Friends and Family have devoted  many hours to crocheting blankets and volunteering for other Crochet Club activities. They have also provided  financial support. They have all helped the club not simply survive the past two difficult years but supply a record number of blankets to the London community.

 As we move forward from the pandemic, we need to maintain this success and the Crochet Club is launching our first annual fundraising campaign, “Help us KEEP London Warm!” 

Club membership has increased significantly since 2019 and we now supply members with about 60 yarn projects per month compared to around 40 previously. Coupled with that, inflation has affected yarn prices, so our yarn budget has risen considerably.  Another cost increase is rent. Previously, we depended on different free locations for holding meetings and storing yarn.  When these  became inaccessible during lockdown, we realised the only way for the Club to continue was to rent our own space which we called the Crochet Clubhouse. With 24/7 access to a secure location, plentiful parking, lots of storage, and space to meet and work, the Clubhouse has become critical to our continued success. Although the rent is reasonable, it is an expense we never had in the past.

The Club’s annual budget for yarn and rent is now about $10,000 more than pre-pandemic levels.

We have set this as the target for our Help us KEEP London Warm! “campaign which is running from October 1^st 2022 until September 30^th 2023. We are asking for donations, of any amount, from members, friends, and family, so please spread the word.
