The Cumberland Geological Society was formed in 1990 to establish a museum in Parrsboro dedicated to the geology and palaeontology of the Bay of Fundy.
The Fundy Geological Museum was opened in 1993 and is operated by the society as a community-run Nova Scotia Museum site.
