About THE FESTIVAL CHORUS
The Festival Chorus is a Calgary amateur auditioned chorus of about 50 singers founded in 1959 for the Handel-Purcell Festival. Over the past 6 decades the chorus has expanded its expertise and repertoire, presenting major works with professional soloists and orchestra. Under current Artistic Director, Cody Obst, the chorus continues to expand an ever widening range of choral experiences reflecting a burgeoning interest in performing world music in original languages. The Festival Chorus has enjoyed some spectacular musical partnerships over the years and shared the stage with the Foothills Brass, Alan Monk, and Kronos Quartet among others, and helped to launch the career of many young singers.
