COVID-19 Response: Supporting the Mental Health of Children and Families

During a life-changing event like COVID-19, children and youth are particularly vulnerable to conditions such as anxiety, depression, loss of sleep, diminished appetite, irritability, apathy and existing mental health issues are further compounded.

The COVID-19 crisis has created an increased demand for our children’s mental health treatment services. With each passing day our waitlist is growing - growing alongside the spread of COVID-19. And the long-term effect is going to be significant, especially for children.

The George Hull Centre for Children & Families’ mission is to reduce suffering, provide hope, and enhance the quality of life of infants, children, youth, and families - something that is particularly pertinent as this crisis continues.

We are working hard to provide all the help we can to our clients through a number of virtual services including individual and family therapeutic sessions, intensive “in home” services, and speech and language appointments, all by phone and teleconference. Enriching EarlyON programming, including story and circle times, science programs, yoga and parent workshops, and Family Group Conferencing are also being offered virtually.

Your gift today will allow us to respond to the crisis and implement additional programs that help children deal with anxiety and other intense feelings during this stressful time. Thank you!
