The Glenshiel was built in 1908/1909 in the style of a turn of the century European hotel. It was initially operated by a series of private owners and was considered one of the best places to stay in Victoria. In 1997, The Glenshiel Housing Society was formed and is now responsible for the operation of The Glenshiel, in relationship with B.C. Housing who leases the property from the BC Museum. We have a community consisting of 68 residents and provide meals, activities, bed sitting rooms and light housekeeping for low to middle income independent seniors.
Our mission is to provide rental accommodation and hospitality services for seniors in a safe, secure, and affordable downtown environment that promotes independence.
