Kevin Hurley died in tragic cycling accident on July 25, 2016. He was doing what he loved, finding peace on a scenic Annapolis Valley road on a beautiful day.
His 30 short years were filled with so much love, laughter, and life experiences. Kevin was accomplished and successful in everything he did.
He graduated from Auburn Drive High School in 2004, highlighted by several academic and scholastic-related awards. He had a successful career as an engineer with Imperial Oil after graduating with the distinction as Sexton scholar at Dalhousie. Individual awards and accolades, of which he had many, never meant very much to Kevin; rather he valued the journey and relationships along the way. He was involved with many community and charitable endeavors; including coaching Auburn Drive High School Hockey, Cole Harbour Minor Hockey, and Special Olympics Golf, he fundraised thousands of dollars for L’Arche House, St Vincent de Paul Society, the Sidney Crosby Foundation, and United Way - to name a few.
Kevin would agree his true-life success lies in the outpouring of love reciprocated from his family, close friends, and even those who he only met a few times. Everyone admired him for his energy, zest for life. His legacy is the many life lessons he has taught so many of us.
