Over my 40-year career in nephrology, I’ve seen kidney disease treatment and care transform thanks to generous people like you.
Dialysis and organ transplantation are much more effective today than they were at the beginning of my career and people experiencing kidney disease enjoy a better quality of life. Kidney research has led to new medications that reduce or arrest kidney disease progression entering clinical practice or testing in clinical trials. With supporters like you by its side, The Kidney Foundation has powered such research as well as support programs for 60 years. Thank you, Suzan! Despite progress, kidney disease often goes undetected for years.
Dan discovered his polycystic kidney disease in his early 20s when his kidneys were functioning well. It wasn’t until his kidney function crashed a few years later that his life changed forever. Dan received a kidney transplant with successful results. He has since become a Peer Support Network volunteer helping others facing kidney disease learn what to expect. Now, he fiercely advocates for young people to stay on top of their doctor’s appointments because early detection can positively impact patient outcomes.
I’ve dedicated my life to kidney disease research to support those affected. With The Kidney Foundation’s donor support, I’m developing targeted therapies for glomerular disease while others work toward better treatments and potential cures. Today, I hope we can count on you to support groundbreaking research, life-changing support services, and reliable information for people affected by kidney disease.
