You play a fundamental role in kidney research

This is an exciting time for kidney disease research and care.

In the past few years, effective treatments have multiplied thanks to fundamental, translational, and clinical research. The Kidney Foundation of Canada and generous donors like you have played a key role in funding so much of this research. Thank you!

As a fundamental researcher, I’m encouraged by the changes taking place. It is more than gratifying to see research findings lead to tangible treatments that are helping people impacted by kidney disease lead better lives. And I have hope that in the decades to come, even bigger strides toward a cure for kidney disease will be taken.

As The Kidney Foundation marks 60 years of fuelling research and support for people living with kidney disease and their families, I hope I can count on you. Will you donate today to help power continued progress that makes a positive impact on people with kidney disease now and in the future?

As you can read in my story, I’ve been a nephrologist for more than 30 years. With experience in Japan, the United States, and Canada, I can tell you that we are lucky to have The Kidney Foundation of Canada and its Kidney Research Scientist Core Education and National Training program (KRESCENT). It’s a unique program that does a tremendous job of advancing kidney disease discoveries and care. There aren’t many programs like it in the world and it is inspiring to see how it is making positive advancements possible.

In Canada, kidney disease is the 10th leading cause of death. It is a serious illness that deserves serious attention. That’s why we have to work together to keep kidney disease research on track. It’s our best chance at helping people live better lives for longer.

Please join me in donating in honour of The Kidney Foundation’s 60th anniversary. Your gift will encourage kidney researchers to keep looking for much-needed answers to the biggest questions about kidney disease.

With thanks,
