The Mountainview Lodge is a Long Term Care home located in the Kitimat General Hospital and is the home to 36 of our communities elders. The Mountainview Lodge is not only home to these residents it is a gathering place where residents from the Community of Kitimat and the Kitamaat Village come in to take part in recreational activities at the Lodge.

Two years ago the Mountainview Lodge Bus was decommissioned and the residents and community members were no longer able to participate in some of the fun activities that they could normally participate in. It became much harder for residents in the community to come to Mountainview Lodge and the resident's couldn't take their trips out.

Our most vulnerable citizens were no longer able to take trips to Terrace or Prince Rupert, they could not go to the river to fish with their friend Ron and so very much more. Community members that would normally come to Mountainview Lodge to take part in recreational activities with the friends and family could not be picked up or taken home as easily and the quality of life for the residents and Community members was negatively impacted.

When COVID19 came along the residents of Mountainview Lodge were completely quarantined and without their own bus they were not even able to go for a drive around the community to see a change of scenery.

The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation has taken on a fundraising effort to purchase a bus for the Mountainview Lodge that will benefit the Lodge, Delta King Place, the future Dementia Care Home, Better At Home Clients and so much more.
