We work to aid access to our Parish Hall. We host Community Coffee Break, First Aid Courses, School and Village events and Bake Sales.
The Ladies of Sacred Heart Batawa is raising money to improve the lives of the people of Batawa through support of our Community Church and Parish Hall, support of our Community School and support of other Community events.
Our main focus at this moment is improving accessibility for all. A lift is needed to be able to have people access the Hall and up to the building (church.) The Ramp in existence is just about ready to be removed. It is weathered and slowly being unusable. We have 14 steps upstairs, 10 steps up the front and 4 steps down into the Hall. Safety and Access is our goal. For everyone.
Our hall is used for a number of Community activities including weekly Community Coffee Break, First Aid Courses, School Functions, Village Events and Bake Sales. Our group has become a Canadian Registered Charity/Foundation in recognition of our goals.
Our Church supports an active religious community including, Sacred Heart School, whose students walk over for monthly mass and other activities. As well we have weekly masses every Saturday at 5pm. Being a small community we open our arms to all religions and we hold an ecumenical Candlelight service once a year to welcome our local religious community and neighbours.
We are rural and need help to achieve "Accessibility for All."
