Of all the things cancelled in recent weeks, hunger isn't one of them.
For those we feed, and almost 9,200 people in the city, isolation hasn’t been a matter of choice. The struggles and anxiety of homelessness, the “felt” reality of hunger and isolation of poverty, remain their intimate companion.
For the most vulnerable and at risk in our community, the many services they depend on everyday have dwindled. The places they go, the crucial support they’ve relied on have been drastically reduced as result of the COVID-19 crisis.
So even though much of the world is presently on pause, we are not.
That’s the promise of Toronto Lawyers Feed the Hungry.
With a commitment to our community’s most vulnerable, and a clear and unwavering vision that everyone deserves access to nutritious food, we continue to ensure a welcoming atmosphere and a warm meal for those who turn to us for help.
Serving almost 1,200 meals a week is demanding at the best of times. The COVID-19 pandemic just made it more challenging. While we safely continue to provide meals through a modified take-out service, our fundraising revenues have been severely disrupted.
When, now more than ever, we are a critical resource for those with little or no options for something to eat, our Program is facing real financial challenges from the loss of key revenue sources. Events have been cancelled. On-site sponsorships deferred.
Distance cannot prevent us joining together to embrace and nourish those in need.
At this unparalleled moment in our history, we are tested to keep alive the values of a caring community for those less fortunate. With your help, we will not falter.
The lifeblood of our Program for 22 years, our donor’s generosity has touched the lives of our guests with kindness, compassion and hope. Solely dependent on fundraising income and donors like you, we’re reaching out to ask for your help to give what you can, for those we serve.
Your donation lets our guests know they are not forgotten; your generosity lets them know they are not alone.
Please give today.
