The Learn and Uplift Foundation, COVID Response 2Keep Youth Learning
Aspirations of many children are the same: a desire to learn. For the children at Lucknow India, COVID – 19 is an especially large obstacle to learning.  Ankit, pictured above before the pandemic bright-eyed and eager for school, is one of many children cut off from education and, like his schoolmates, living with families in slums and along roadsides in temporary structures made of plastic sheets.
These children WANT TO LEARN. AND WANT TO CONTINUE TO LEARN.
They need your help.
KK Academy, Lucknow, India have been providing education to young learners in peri-urban areas for 30 years. KK Academy is the recipient the Malala Day Award by the local government for implementing the Right to Education in the true spirit of social inclusion. Seeking a solution to the education crisis caused by COVID – 19, KK Academy reached out for help. The Learn and Uplift Foundation (LAUF) created solutions to allow KK Academy teachers and their students continue their learning from Toronto!
While many children around the world are learning online, these children don’t have access to computers. The children's access to technology consists of a phone once their parents return from work. LAUF developed a solution. Each week LAUF receives lesson outlines and converts them into online resources accessible to the children on phones. The dedicated principal and teachers at KK Academy, stay up well beyond midnight to be able to communicate and work with LAUF during our daytime to make it happen for the children.

What began as a crisis response in June 2020 to support children through online learning, now requires longer period commitment and resourcing. This campaign seeks to raise $ 35,000. This will resource technical upgrades and part-time help to create learning assets that can be accessed over the next 3-5 years.

Can you help Ankit and the children at Lucknow?

You can also signal your encouragement to the students by adding inspiring messages in English or Hindi to appear on weekly lessons and quizzes when you commit to a monthly donation of at least $15 for an year.
