For over 50 years, the Leighton Art Centre has been helping thousands of youth to express themselves in new and creative ways within our unique environment. Every year almost 9,000 children and youth attend our art and nature school, summer camps and workshops. No other educational facility in the Calgary region offers this kind of unique programming.

We understand the importance of preserving what we have successfully built, and we are now at an important point in our journey. To meet growing demands, and to enhance programming for all youth, we must make a significant investment in our education facilities and programming. The Building on a Legacy fundraising campaign, will support our current education infrastructure by strategically renovating, retrofitting and enhancing the existing education facilities.

This first phase of our development plan is focused and impactful, with a projected cost of $180,000. This investment will support essential improvements, including upgraded washroom facilities and the creation of a new studio and meeting space - enhancing both functionality and student experience. The great news? We’ve already secured $80,000 toward this goal, bringing us well on our way to making this vision a reality. But we can’t do it alone. The support of our many stakeholders has been critical to bring us to this point and is essential as we embark on this next chapter of our journey.

The Leighton Art Centre is asking for your support to help raise the remaining $100,000 required to complete the work identified in phase one. And, we are also excited to announce that thanks to generous donors, the first $20,000 received towards this remaining amount will be matched - doubling the impact of your donation. Your support will support the next decade of unique Art and Nature Education as envisioned by Barbara Leighton 50 years ago and will ensure The Leighton Art Centre may continue to inspire, educate and engage future generations.
