The Mennonite Benevolent Society was formed in 1945 to address the needs of the elderly. In 2002 a program was initiated in Ukraine.
The Mennonite Benevolent Society (Manitoba) was formed in 1945 to address the needs of the elderly and infirm in Manitoba. Various facilities and programs were established and are operated as autonomous entities. In 2002, a program to address the needs of seniors, people with disabilities, and children with Special Needs was initiated in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine and surrounding areas. The Mennonite Family Centre is registered as a local charity in the Zaporizhzhya Oblast, and is an Agent of the Mennonite Benevolent Society.
The primary programs include:
1. Home Care
2. Respite Care
3. Day Programs for seniors
4. Support for programs for children with Special Needs
5. Support for local groups with programs consistent with the aims of the Centre
The Mennonite Family Centre employs about 30 persons and over 250 persons benefit directly through the programs at any one time.
