Moreover, crews are made up of people from various cultures so some of the creature comforts that can sustain the rest of us during hard times, such as favourite foods, may not be available.

Seafarers work long hours and face danger on the job, anxiety, social isolation, work pressures and interrupted sleep.

We believe it's important to provide a listening ear and a familiar face when seafarers come to port. Just talking with someone other than a shipmate can help relieve stress and provide encouragement. Therefore, our chaplains visit ships on a daily basis, spending time in the break room, engaging with seafarers who want to talk or who need help.
