To preserve and share the unique history of the Highwood area*, to excite and enlighten visitors, and to inspire our citizens to build a better future with a connection to the past.
* The area bordered by Vulcan (east), Nanton (south), Priddis (north), and the Rocky Mountains (west). This includes Aldersyde, Black Diamond, Blackie, Brant, Cayley, DeWinton, Herronton, High River, Longview, Millarville, Mossleigh, Okotoks, and Turner Valley.
The Museum of the Highwood promotes the preservation of the heritage of the Highwood area and its relevance to the history of the Province of Alberta and the Dominion of Canada; collects, documents, conserves, stores and shares artifacts, photographs and archival materials; has an open-for-public-viewing museum with contextual displays of many objects; and remains an integral element of the Highwood area through activities and education programs that engage the community.
