The Wilderness: Our Most Ambitious Preservation Project
407 King Street is a five-acre parcel in Niagara-on-the-Lake—bordered by historic King, Mary, Regent and Centre streets. One Mile Creek, a watershed that intersects 93 properties, rambles through its Carolinian woods.
Known for over a century as The Wilderness, the land is of local and national significance, given its indigenous, military, political and horticultural history.
And that’s where The Foundation comes in; with a commitment to heritage protection and stewardship. Having saved this centrally located property from the threat of inappropriate development, our ambition is to revitalize The Wilderness, with the goal of long-term preservation and eventual community use.
