About OAKVILLE SYMPHONY
We're thrilled to be celebrating our 50th season in 2017-18.
Kenneth Hollier, experienced musician and conductor founded the Oakville Symphony in 1967.
The large core of amateur musicians is supported by eleven professionals who lead and instruct various sections. Each season talented guest artists perform with the orchestra. The Oakville Symphony also has a Young Artists Program which provides playing scholarships for young musicians each season. As well, an annual competition is held to award the Hollier Award to a promising young local student musician.
Through the outstanding leadership of the current conductor and music director, Roberto DeClara, the orchestra has increased in numbers of musicians and improved in quality of sound. The annual audience for the orchestra’s subscription series of 8 concerts is over 4,900 and 90% of them are season loyal returning subscribers.
