About Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario
EAPO is funded by the Ontario Government, through the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility (MSAA) and is mandated to support the implementation of the provincial Strategy to Combat Elder Abuse (the 1st of its kind in Canada) through three priorities:
✅ providing/participating in awareness raising educational forums, webinars and community seniors wellness fairs
✅ delivering multi-sectoral training to service professionals/caregivers
✅ building community capacity among 45 volunteer Elder Abuse Prevention Networks across Ontario, to respond safely, through development of resources that address the complexities elder abuse.
Last year alone, EAPO made a real difference: :
✅ supported 2,200 seniors, caregivers, family members and service professionals who called us for help to mitigate abuse and connect them to appropriate resources through 3300 referrals.
✅ participated in over 251 cost free, community educational forums for seniors, with 6501 attending, to help raise awareness and empower seniors to safeguard themselves against abuse.
✅ hosted 40 provincial webinars, with ASL interpretation and attended by 15,870 individuals across the globe
✅ delivered 233 trainings to 14 sectors with over 7,016 trainees.
✅ Total served 43,177 in 2296 events!
