About the Orpheus Choir of Toronto
The Orpheus Choir of Toronto has earned a reputation as “one of Toronto's most distinguished and important choirs” (Larry Beckwith, WholeNote Magazine).
Now in its 61st season, under the leadership of Thomas Burton our sixty-voice auditioned ensemble continues to offer bold presentations of exciting and varied repertoire, including the premiere performances of commissioned works and unique collaborations with other arts organizations.
Committed to nurturing the next generation of choral artists, Orpheus offers training and mentorship opportunities to an Assistant Conductor and a group of 8 pre-professional solo artists called the Sidgwick Scholars. A Vocal Apprentice Program is targeted at high school singers with an interest in choral music to encourage lifelong participation in the choral community. We take pride in supporting emerging talent and fostering a vibrant future for choral music in Canada.
