The Pet Food Bank of Parkland County

about

The Pet Food Bank of Parkland County, located in Spruce Grove, Alberta was started to help and assist low income families and First Nation Communities in Alberta, BC and the Yukon Territories by providing free pet food and pet items.  Food and items are donated by manufacturers, pet stores, grocery stores and private citizens.  A program (SNIP) to spay and neuter pets for low income families is part of The Pet Food Bank.  The cost is $50 for dogs and $25 for cats.  In 2020 over 100 pets were spayed or neutered in the program, with the partnership of several vet clinics.  SNIP means Spay Neuter in Parkland County where both charities are located.

In 2016, Half Way Home Rescue (for cats and kittens) opened (under The Pet Food Bank) to rescue unwanted, abandoned and abused cats and kittens.  Each one brought into the rescue is immediately checked at our vet clinic; vaccinated and spayed or neutered; microchipped and tattoed prior to adoption.  Cats or kittens that have severe medical needs and are deemed unadoptable remain in the rescue to live out their lives.

Our MISSION is to help feed hungry animals; reduce the pet population; educate animal care and welfare and rescue animals needing our help.
