The Reading Place is all about helping children in grades 1 to 4 read better. We are currently constructing our theme rooms where children will read. Our theme rooms are amazing places! The theme rooms do change on a regular basis so they are new and exciting all the time. On one floor we have: a First Nations room with a real tipi, campfire and creek; a Filipino room with a real traditional home called a Bahay Kubo; a Wildlife Sanctuary room with an amazing animal house; and a Celebration of Culture room where various cultures are highlighted. In addition to our amazing library of books, we have an amazing collection of cultural items that leave the children going "wow!". Our second floor will have a Jungle Room and a Mystery Cave Room. 

Did you know that children who do not read at their grade level by grade three do not catch up? Did you know that remedial reading classes in schools rarely work? Did you know 20-30% of children drop out of school in economically depressed areas? We didn't. Once we found out we knew we had to do something but how do you compete with the world of social media and computer games? You catch children's imagination in an entirely new way. Will it work? You bet. We have been test running our concept for a year now and the response from children is amazing. They are so excited for our doors to officially open! Please help us finish the rooms and bring a whole new concept of reading to children.
