Long-term Desired Outcome
When young girls are forced to sit in the middle of the floor at home or in a segregated hut and remain there until their menses concludes, at the expense of furthering their education in the classroom, the world suffers. When women are forced to use unsanitary materials that pose a hazard to their health and well-being in order to avoid the imposed shame that comes with menstruation, the world suffers. When the world suffers, it does so in silence as a result of the stigma surrounding menstruation.
Our dream is that no girl will be prevented from accessing a full education because of her menses; that no woman will be forced to miss work due to inadequate sanitation at her place of work; that no individual will suffer adverse health outcomes as a result of unsanitary menstrual management methods; and that no individual will face social isolation or stigma as a result of her menstrual status.
We want to eradicate the barriers that girls and women face during, and as a result of, menstruation.
