Our Mission is "Mobilizing for Mission".
The Regional Synod of Canada is called by God to mobilize the classes, churches, pastoral leadership, and laity into mission.
Mobilizing for Mission will help transform God’s call and our dreams into reality.
We mobilize the church by preparing the church and providing resources for mission.
Mission is responding to Christ’s call to “Go and make disciples.” It includes:
·Deepening our own faith and commitment.
·Sharing the message of God in word and deed.
·Reaching out in love both locally and abroad.
Mobilizing for Mission will take many forms:
·Introducing a new discipleship process.
·Beginning a new church ministry.
·Planting a new church.
·Developing and sending out leaders.
·Providing people with opportunities to engage in mission.
However, mission does not begin with what we do. Mission begins with changed hearts, with people who want to serve God, glorify his name, and build his kingdom.
Only then can we hear God’s call as we cast vision and discern how and where we will do mission.
Our Mobilizing for Mission campaign seeks to raise funds for mobilizing God's people as follows:
Pastor sabbaticals for reflection and renewal.
·The lay and leadership discipleship initiative Servants for the Harvest, which can transform congregational leaders.
·Develop coached revitalizing networks for laity who share ministry interests. The focus will be on transformational learning, character development, and spiritual growth.
·Develop and promote a synod resource center
·Develop small-group ministries
·Support synod-wide mission initiative.
·Support youth and others in short-term mission projects.
·Support local congregations’ outreach initiatives
Revitalization gifts will be used to assist churches in the visioning process and in developing new ministries.
Multiplication gifts will be used to plant new churches and develop church and develop church planting teams.
About THE REGIONAL SYNOD OF CANADA INC REFORMED CHURCH IN AMERICA
The Regional Synod of Canada (RSC) is one of eight regional synods in the Reformed Church in America. Consisting of three Presbyterian-styled classes and 45 congregations (both officially established congregations and developing congregations), we are part of the historic church of Jesus Christ and under his leadership; we recognize the Bible as God's holy, inspired Word to the entire world; we are empowered by the Holy Spirit; and we are eager to discover new (and old) ways to please God. The Regional Synod of Canada provides spiritual and practical leadership by shepherding leaders, congregations and classes. They cast the vision of the Synod, coordinate new church developments and serves as a catalyst for congregation renewal.
