Our project aims to:
-
Create opportunities for military veteran and civilian performing artists to collaborate on professional creative projects.
-
Offer veterans career transition pathways in the arts through mentorship and professional development.
-
Facilitate community engagement and education through public conversations between military and civilian communities about the legacy of Canada’s service men and women.
We are developing a new stage work featuring CAF modern veterans who are actors alongside Canadian dance artists. With the support of our partners — the Roland Gossage Foundation (Toronto) and the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning (Kingston) — the production will premiere and tour in March 2026.
This physical theatre work centers on CAF modern veterans telling their own stories of service. These stories are deeply moving, amplifying the voices of living Canadian veterans. We believe it is vital to acknowledge their service and to build greater understanding of the modern veteran experience in Canada.
We’ve received initial funding from Veterans Affairs Canada, but additional support is needed to meet our fundraising goal — and we have exciting news to share!
An anonymous donor is matching all contributions up to $3,000, which means your gift will go twice as far. Together, we can raise $6,000 — or even surpass it to reach our $8,000 goal.
Your contribution will directly help bring this important theatre work, The MiCiv Project, to life — amplifying the voices of Canadian Armed Forces Modern Veterans and civilian artists as they share their stories through powerful physical theatre.
The MiCiv Project gratefully acknowledges the support of the Roland Gossage Foundation, the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning, Veterans Affairs Canada, Ripley’s Aquarium, Soulpepper Theatre, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Roy Thomson Hall/Massey Hall.
