The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services:
For 125 years, EDS has been on scene and serving whenever there has been a natural or man-made disaster – always ready to assist during emergencies by providing mobile feeding and hydration units, shelter, emotional and spiritual support, along with the distribution of necessary supplies.
The Salvation Army Community Response Units in BC are one of the first to arrive and the last to leave. Our team’s assist through the critical disaster phase and well after the tragedy; providing practical support, offering hope and rebuilding communities.
The Salvation Army Social Services:
For over 150 years, The Salvation Army is the largest direct non-governmental social service provider in Canada. The first ministry of The Salvation Army in BC opened on the edge of Chinatown in 1887.
Today, The Salvation Army touches lives through a strategic continuum of care and relief. From emergency disasters, shelters and transitional housing, addiction treatment programs and ongoing counselling, family support services and employment training.
The Salvation Army gives hope every day to families, new immigrants, seniors, the terminally ill, homeless people and marginalized individuals. It is estimated that one-third of British Columbians have been touched in some way by The Salvation Army.
