In Saint John NB The Salvation Army:-

•Operate a free café every weekday

•Provide thousands of free community meals each year.

•Provide emergency food & vouchers for those in need.

•Partner with, & financially support, 2 community foodbanks in the city.

•Directly operate a ‘Personal Care Items’ bank.

•Provide advocacy services for clients dealing with various service providers – landlords, social workers, social agencies etc.

•Engage in a Community Outreach program – seeking out those needing assistance.

•Facilitate a comprehensive bed program

•Provide vouchers for clothing, Furniture &Household items

•Assist the needy with covering the cost of prescriptions

•Transportation to medical appointments

•Operate a Christmas toy & hamper program (ensuring that over 500 families enjoy the festivities)

•Provide school supplies to needy families

•Other forms of practical assistance – accommodation hunting, resume preparation, referrals to detox etc.

•Operate an Emergency Response Unit, servicing disaster victims & supporting the emergency services staff.

•Send 50 kids from the priority neighbourhoods to 1-week summer camp – free!

•Host a free Income Tax Clinic

•A weekly ‘friendship-club’ with a community meal (called Mosaic)

•Run ‘Hope Community Church’ [Funds raised from the public are not used to support our church programs or activities.]

•Constantly look out for other ways to service those in need within our community.
