For many parents, one of the most troubling aspects of having their child diagnosed with dyslexia is the enormous cost typically associated with the specialized instruction. While outside tutoring and instructional programs offered by reading specialists or speech and language professionals exist, they are expensive and not financially feasible for many families. Too often, parents are left with no place to turn and heartbroken to have a child with a dyslexia diagnosis but no access to evidence-based programs to treat it. 

The B.C. Learning Centres for Children with Dyslexia support children who need a second chance; many of whom have few other options. We ensure that children from financially challenged families have the opportunity to gain the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential, achieve their goals and participate in today’s global economy. Why? Because people with improved literacy skills make better choices. They eat healthier, vote more often, strive for higher education, find better jobs and make their communities stronger.

So how do we do it? The B.C. Learning Centres for Children with Dyslexia provide free of charge, one-to-one tutoring to children with dyslexia from financially challenged families. The key to the uniqueness and success of our program is that all tutors are trained without charge, and all tutoring is FREE to the children enrolled.
