ABOUT OUR CHARITY
The Sinneave Family Foundation (Sinneave) is a registered charity, formed in 2008 to address the challenges experienced by individuals and families impacted by autism. Located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Sinneave operates the Ability Hub on The University of Calgary Campus. The Ability Hub is a true hub of innovation and collaboration that connects us with our local community.
Considered rare only a decade ago autism now affects one in every 68 children born in Canada, growing at a greater rate than any other developmental disability. The increase in diagnosis in early childhood means an inevitable increase in the numbers of emerging adults with autism who have on-going and changing needs throughout their lifespan. When the transition to adulthood does not go well, the impact is life long and negatively affects the individual, their family and the community.
Sinneave is dedicated to supporting individuals with autism in the transition to adulthood to realize their highest quality of life. Sinneave focuses the majority of its energy and resources on improving outcomes in the areas of continuing education, employment and independent living. Working at the individual, family, community and system levels, and across networks, Sinneave aims to achieve its mission through sharing promising practices, building system capacity and fostering policy development.
Sinneave is a charitable organization (CRA #80522 2759 RR0001) incorporated under the Canada Corporations Act in 2008, and continued under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (the “NFP Act”) since 2014. Charitable donation receipts will be provided for gifts of $20 or more.
