Prospective research studies in spontaneous intracranial hypotension are urgently needed for a better understanding of this disabling neurological condition. An important research study looking at patient outcomes after various treatments and procedures for SIH, in the short and long term, is being planned. Dr. Farnaz Amoozegar, neurologist and headache specialist at the University of Calgary is the principal investigator of this research and hopes to collaborate with other centers in Canada, to advance our knowledge in this field. The goal is to improve patient care and outcomes.
A generous donor, known as a member of the Band of Brother, has already contributed $35,000 towards our goal of $50,000, which is required to support the first year of this first in kind medical research. Our total now sits at $38,500.
