Our Mission

The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry/Akwesasne Children's Treatment Centre is a community-funded and supported treatment agency dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.  Through professional counselling children resolve the emotional trauma resulting from their victimization, and parents learn to create a safe and nurturing family environment for their children.  The professional staff seek to integrate the services of the Centre with treatment services available to children and families in the community.  The Centre is committed to reflecting and meeting the different linguistic and cultural needs of children and families in Cornwall, Akwesasne and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.

Who We Are

The Centre is a unique agency.  it is entirely funded by the community it serves and receives no government funding.  As such, it is able to channel the bulk of its resources towards those who need them the most - the children.  

We provide free and immediate assessment and treatment to any child in need and that child's family.  As a community supported agency, there is no need for professional referrals or lengthy waiting periods.  It is staffed by a team of a professional Psychologist and Therapists who are highly skilled in the assessment and treatment of physical and sexual abuse.
