Children who live in poverty in the rural community of North Dundas, ON, often start the school week hungry because they do not get enough to eat over the weekend. Rising food prices are making the problem worse. The House of Lazarus provides a bag of food every Friday (including high-protein items, fresh produce, and milk) to children and youth in need. Teachers slip the food into children’s backpacks so no one feels singled out, and students come to school on Mondays ready to learn.

A gift of $40 will provide two months’ worth of weekend groceries for a hungry child.*
