Our Mandate:
The Valley Zoo Development Society’s (VZDS) mission is to raise funds and promote awareness to ensure the continued development of the Edmonton Valley Zoo (EVZ), including its conservation and education programs.
Continued Development
Each year, the VZDS donates thousands to the Edmonton Valley Zoo for development and continual improvement. Recently, the VZDS has supported: $2 million towards the R. Mollot Arctic Wolf Habitat, $500,000 to the Conservation Carousel, Phase 1 of the Red Panda Yard Project, the Tiger Yard Upgrade, Urban Farm. To learn more abot our projects, visit our website here.
Conservation
The VZDS funds major projects, like the Northern Leopard Frog Recovery Project, Lucy’s Legacy, and to our conservation partner organizations.
Education
In order to make conservation education more accessible, the VZDS has introduced two programs to break down financial and accessibility barriers for local students. Pay it Forward for the Planet, a field trip subsidy designed to reduce financial barriers, and the Virtual Video Series.
