About This Charity

Our Mission

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival Society is a not-for-profit and charitable cultural organization that presents year-round concerts, events and an annual music festival. The VFMFS is dedicated to the presentation, preservation and promotion of traditional and contemporary, culturally-diverse folk music of the highest artistic quality from British Columbia, Canada and around the world.

About Our Charity

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival is held mid-July each year at Jericho Beach Park, featuring 60+ artists from around the world and our own back yard. The Festival is one of the oldest and best loved summer festivals in the city, consistently voted the "Best of Vancouver" in the Georgia Straight's online poll.

The Festival draws 12,000+ people each day, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and community. We're proud leaders in accessibility, with an Access team to facilitate people with disabilities and free access for their care-givers, free admission for children 12 and under, and discounted tickets for underprivileged members of the community.

*Please be advised that the donation deadline to have your name included in the Vancouver Folk Music Festival program is March 3rd, 2015. Any donations made after that date will be recognized in next year's festival program.

1. General Donation

2. Buy Pete an Umbrella We can control the fantastic music you hear and the environment in which you hear it but we can't control the rain. We can better prepare for when it rains again. Help us put $100K in a separate account to put an umbrella over Pete the next time it rains.

3. Festival Programming Your support is worth gold. Whether you give a little or a lot, your financial support helps to bring the amazing artists you hear on stage to the festival each year and assists with helping keep the office going in the darkness of winter.

4. Brian Emery Fund Brian Emery was a long-time Festival goer and activist who believed in the power of folk music to help change the world. If, like Brian, you believe in the same power you can support this fund and designate your donation toward political programming.

5. The Memory Project As a 35th anniversary gift, Veda Hille and The Memory Project Choir went into the studio to record the songs they performed on stage at the 2012 Festival. In appreciation for the download, you can leave the Festival a little gift. Find the download here:
