Since 1975...
Waupoos Family Farm is a registered non-profit organization with a unique charitable mission to serve families that live below the poverty line by facilitating a recreational camp experience for the whole family.
Located on over 200 acres of farmland in the rural Ottawa region, Waupoos Family Farm offers respite and vacation opportunities to families with children 16 years and under, existing below the poverty line or those who have mobility limitations of at least one family member that restrict vacation options.
The majority of the families we accommodate are single-parented and living in social housing. For low-income families struggling to pay rent and put food on their table, leisure activities fall by the wayside. For many families, their time at Waupoos is the only break from the pressures of everyday life. Along with food baskets, toiletry items, holiday meals, sports lessons and leisure activities that Waupoos offers cottagers; Waupoos also offers families the community support they need and the respect they deserve.
It is hard to express in words the difference a vacation at Waupoos can make in a family’s life. Like all vacations, a Waupoos vacation is a time of rest and relaxation. It’s filled with fun and laughter, sports and games - for both parents and kids. But there is something more that Waupoos gives families – it gives them the gift of hope. Families who stay at Waupoos leave with a renewed sense of self-worth and confidence; it’s not really about a vacation, it’s about helping give kids & families in need a future.
