This month the Welcome Collective is celebrating its 2nd anniversary. For the last two years, hundreds upon hundreds of Montrealers have come together to help a growing community of refugee claimants. People from across the island and beyond have contributed by investing furniture, winter clothing, time, energy and money into this community. The results are tremendous -- help for 655700 refugee claimant families who have arrived in Montreal. That means 1,000 adults, 1,255 children and 265 newborns have been helped by Welcome Collective.
Welcome Collective is made up of all of you who told a mother how to keep their kids warm in the Montreal winter, donated a mattress, delivered furniture, or donated money to keep it all going. We are deeply grateful to all of you who have folded baby clothes, held a coat drive, or who told a friend to donate furniture to our organization. This collective has grown because of you.
We are determined to keep welcoming and settling newcomers. And this month - on our second anniversary - we need to raise the money that will keep everything running. We are asking all of you who know and care about our work to chip in - and tell others whom you think will care.
Thank you so much to all of those who have been part of our efforts. Together, we are making an important, positive, and direct impact in our small corner of the planet. There is no stronger political statement we can make about the international refugee crisis around the world than offering a welcoming hand to those who are coming to Montreal.
