Founded in 2001 as the charitable arm of Western Financial Group, The Western Communities Foundation (WCF) has been championing causes that matter most to Canadians for over two decades. We put our energy—and our hearts—into creating safe spaces for Canadians. From building parks, helping folks after disasters, to giving young people a boost when life gets tough. All across Canada in more than 150 communities, we pitch in where it matters most.

How We Lend a Hand
- Safe Places. Ever notice how the best memories happen at the park or on a splash pad? We help build those. Playgrounds, community gardens, picnic tables—you name it. If it gets neighbours outside together, we’re in.
- Emergency Response. Wildfires, floods, storms—sometimes life just throws a curveball. When disaster hits, we don’t wait for someone else. We roll up our sleeves and get emergency funds where they’re needed, fast.
- Mental Health & Crisis Intervention. Everyone hits bumps in the road. We back mental health, crisis intervention programs and hand out our Inspirational Bursary Awards to high school students who’ve faced a tough go and kept going. It’s about hope, encouragement, and a fresh start.
