The Word Guild is Canada’s largest association of writers and editors who are Christian. Members work for both public and Christian markets.
Our Mission
The Word Guild is a national association of Canadian writers, editors, speakers, publishers, booksellers, librarians and other interested individuals who are Christian. From all parts of Canada and many denominational and cultural backgrounds, we are united in our common passion to positively influence individuals — and ultimately the Canadian culture — through life-changing words that bring God’s message of hope.
We encourage the exploration of God-given gifts and talents; provide opportunities for people to work together; and foster excellence in the art, craft, practice and ministry of writing, editing, and speaking.
We believe there is great power in both the written and spoken word, and that Jesus Christ is the ultimate “Word.” John 1:1 Therefore, “The” is always capitalized when referring to The Word Guild.
About THE WORD GUILD
Launched in January 2002, The Word Guild has grown to 350 members across Canada, including approximately 125 professional members.
Our members are journalists, business communicators, poets, playwrights, non-fiction authors, novelists, publication editors, freelance editors, publishers, booksellers, speakers, and more. We write, edit and speak for mainstream and Christian publications, businesses, charities, not-for-profit organizations, churches, television, radio, the Internet and for our own pleasure. Although members represent a wide range of ages, experience levels, genres, styles, geographic locations, personal backgrounds, denominational affiliations and theological beliefs, our community is united in our desire to use our writing to glorify God and to further His kingdom.
Members affirm The Apostles' Creed, and represent a variety of denominational backgrounds.
