Celebrating Our Impact

For half a century, Theatre Antigonish has been a launching pad for talent. Notable alumni who began their journey on our stage include acclaimed actor   Larry Lamb, Emmy nominated actress and podcast host   Nancy Regan, Celtic musician   Mary Jane Lamond, Politician and Broadcaster Seamus O’Regan, Artistic Director Emmy Alcorn and actor   John Ralston who says "My time there was transformative and life changing, and the theatre was a big part of that. The first time I ever really “acted” was on that stage.”   These individuals, and many more, have gone on to successful careers, carrying with them the lessons and experiences from their time with Theatre Antigonish.

More recently, graduates such as Emma Vickers and Devon Side Walker have pursued professional careers in the performing arts, a testament to the ongoing vibrancy and relevance of our work in nurturing the next generation of artists.

Educational Impact

Theatre Antigonish’s contribution to education at StFX is unparalleled. For students, the theatre is an invaluable extension of the classroom—a place where they can apply their learning in practical, creative ways. Courses across disciplines, such as English, Education, and Psychology, integrate theatre-related projects into their curricula. Students not only gain academic knowledge but also develop essential life skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and public speaking.

Voices of the Next Generation

"The Bauer Theatre is a place you can call home," says   Matt Luers  , a current StFX student. "In my first year of university, I was overwhelmed and worried about finding my people. When I auditioned for a play at the Bauer, I was immediately treated like family and made friendships that will last for years."

Another student,  Abby Fraser, adds: "Theatre Antigonish provides a space for students to grow creatively, find community, and build lasting connections. My time at Theatre Antigonish has been the best part of my StFX experience."
