Our Mission
The Théâtre la Catapulte is a not-for-profit organization that celebrated 15 years of existence in 2008. The company’s main interests are research, artistic development and establishment in francophone communities of Ontario as well as offer bold and contemporary artistic experiences to an enthusiastic audience. It seeks to provide the widest possible distribution for its productions, in Ottawa and all over Canada, and targets both, Francophone and Francophile, adult and young audiences. I completely reach this mandate and I am proud of giving my help to this company.
About Théâtre la Catapulte
Founded in 1992 by a group of young artists under the auspices of Patrick Leroux, the Théâtre la Catapulte was, from its inception, a rallying point for a new generation of Franco-Ontarian artists. The company has presented more than twenty two professional theatre productions, toured provincially and nationally with production such as "La «Band» à tout casser", "Faust : Chroniques de la démesure", "L'Hypocrite", "Safari de banlieue", "Le Testament du couturier", "Cette fille-là", "Regarde-moi!", "Rage" and "L’Illusion comique". Renowned for his dynamic and meticulous approach, Joël Beddows has been artistic director since 1998. In spring 1999, Théâtre la Catapulte joined with three other Ottawa-based companies to open a new performance space: La Nouvelle Scène in Ottawa.
